Troubleshoot: "Problem communicating with local file server"

Step 1: Check Proofpix Helper Status
Launch the **Proofpix Helper **app.
- If it does not pass its tests, the issue is likely caused by a stopped service. Proceed to Step 2.
- If it passes its tests, the issue is likely caused by browser permissions being denied by the user. Proceed to Step 3.
Step 2: Restart Proofpix WebServer
macOS
- Press ⌘ + Space, type Activity Monitor, and open it.
- Locate ProofpixWebserver in the list.
- Select it, then click the X button in the toolbar.
- Click Force Quit.
- The ProofpixWebserver will automatically restart.
- Accept any prompts that appear.
Windows
- Type Services in the taskbar search.
- Right-click Services and select Run as administrator.
- Locate ProofpixWebserver in the list.
- Click it, then select Restart in the left-hand panel.
Back in the Proofpix admin, click the app status button in the bottom left and confirm that it passes its tests.
Step 3: Enable Browser Permissions
- Open admin.proofpix.com in your browser.
- Select the options icon to the left of the address bar.

- Click on Site settings, in the popup that appears after selecting the options icon.
- Once you reach your site settings you must enable the permissions listed below.

Please make sure that the following permissions are set to "Allow".
Local network (set to allow)
Apps on device (set to allow)
JavaScript optimization & security (Set to allow)
Insecure content (Set to allow)
Background sync (set to allow)
Images (Set to allow)
Javascript (Set to allow)
- Reload your browser and the app status will start communicating with the local server.
