Troubleshoot: “Task canceled because the watermark could not be loaded from the database.”

If you recently changed your Proofpix password, you may encounter the above error when trying to upload images.

You may also encounter the following related error when performing other actions but the fix should be the same,

"The current user is not authorized to access this resource".

The steps to correct this are as follows:

1) Refresh your Proofpix Helper session

Open the Proofpix Helper app.

Log out, then log back in with your Proofpix username/password. Once the Helper has completed running its tests, you may quit it.

2) Restart the background service

Sometimes the Proofpix Helper needs a nudge so it reloads your fresh credentials and reconnects to the database.

macOS

  1. Press ⌘ + Space, type Activity Monitor, and open it
  2. Locate ProofpixWebserver in the list
  3. Select it, then click the X button in the toolbar
  4. Click Force Quit
  5. The ProofpixWebserver will automatically restart
  6. Accept any prompts that appear

Windows

  1. Type Services in the taskbar search
  2. Right-click Services and select Run as administrator
  3. Locate ProofpixWebserver in the list
  4. Click it, then select Restart in the left-hand panel

3) Then you should be able to retry the upload without issue.
