Everything you need to know about PriceMagic

If you sell products such as memory-mates, magazine covers or posters that have a certain fixed-size or aspect ratio then you are likely creating images with a certain fixed-size.

For instance, if you sell memory-mates, then you will likely be creating these images in Photoshop or Pixnub SPA and sizing them to 8x10.

Once you upload your images, you do not want customers applying this 8x10 image to a 4x6 product as this will create ugly cropping.

Proofpix allows you to work with multiple pricelists in the same event so this problem can be avoided if you build a specific pricelist that only contains products that match the size or aspect-ratio of the memory-mate. So you may create a pricelist that is purpose-built for your memory-mates add include a 4x5, an 8x10 and/or a 16x20 print (all have the same aspect ratio as your memory-mate image).

While you could manually attach this purpose-built pricelist to all your uploaded memory-mate images, that would be tedious. Fortunately, this process can be automated as follows:

Name your purpose-built pricelist something meaningful, such as Memory-mate pricelist.
Add only the products to your pricelist that match the size or aspect ratio of the target-image.
Assign your pricelist to a Pricelist group (explanation below).
Apply a meaningful code in the Product target code field, such as mm, or mem, or mate (for memory-mate).
When saving your images, make sure to include the same code in your file name wrapped in ! symbols, such as !mm!. This can be automated using Photoshop actions or using Pixnub SPA.
When uploading your images, make sure to select the pricelist group that includes the your purpose-built pricelist(s).
As each image is uploaded, we will look for the code in the filename and automatically attach the pricelist from that pricelist group that has the matching code.

Each code you assign a pricelist must be unique per pricelist group and the file name must not contain any other ! characters.

Pricelist groups
Now let's say, you want to sell memory-mates and magazine covers at different prices and both your memory-mate and magazine covers are saved at 8x10. Furthermore, you deal with two leagues and the second league requires the same items but at a cheaper rate.

For the first league you would do the following for your memory-mate product:

Create a pricelist and name your pricelist something meaningful, such as, Memory-mate pricelist for League 1.
Create or choose a pricelist group that is named something meaningful such as, League 1.
Enter a meaningful Product target code such as, mm.
In the products section of the pricelist builder, select the desired lab/vendor tab.
Rename the 8x10 for composites 1 product to Memory-mate and set it's price according to the first league.
Add any other products that you want to offer with your memory-mates.
Save your pricelist.

For the first league you would do the following for your magazine product:

Create a pricelist and name your pricelist something meaningful, such as Magazine pricelist for League 1.
Choose the same pricelist group.
Enter a meaningful Product target code such as, mag.
In the products section of the pricelist builder, select the desired lab/vendor tab.
Rename the 8x10 for composites 2 to Magazine cover and set it's price according to the first league.
Add any other products that you want to offer with your magazine image.
Save your pricelist.

For the second league you would do the following for your memory-mate product:

Clone the previous memory-mate pricelist and rename it to Memory-mate pricelist for League 2.
Create or choose a new pricelist group that is named something meaningful such as, League 2.
Lower the prices of your items accordingly.
Save your pricelist.

For the second league you would do the following for your magazine product:

Clone the previous magazine pricelist and rename it to Magazine pricelist for League 2.
Choose the pricelist group that is named, League 2.
Lower the prices of your items accordingly.
Save your pricelist.

When uploading images for League 1:

Choose the League 1 pricelist group in the uploader.
Upload all your memory-mate and magazine images at the same time.
As each image is uploaded, we will look for the code in the filename and automatically attach the pricelist from that pricelist group that has the matching code.

When uploading images for League 2:

Choose the League 2 pricelist group in the uploader.
Upload all your memory-mate and magazine images at the same time.
As each image is uploaded, we will look for the code in the filename and automatically attach the pricelist from that pricelist group that has the matching code.

PriceMagic Caveat! If you are selling a package which includes a product that is intended for images tagged with a PriceMagic pricelist, setting a Max Pose rule in your package may result in the PriceMagic image being applied to the wrong product in your package. We recommend not using Max Poses in your package, if this is the case.
