Order discounts

Specify a minimum amount to spend before the discount is active
Specify an expiration date

You configure your order discounts in Event settings > Discounts & rewards.

Product discounts

Product discounts are calculated during checkout and apply to all orders for an event. Product discounts allow you to reward customers with discounted or free products based on their sub-total, You can:
Specify the amount of the discount in either a finite amount or a percentage
Specify a minimum amount to spend before the product discount is active
Specify an expiration date

You configure your order discounts in Event settings > Discounts & rewards.

Known customer discounts

Known customer discounts work just like order and product discounts except that they will be applied for any Known Customers you add to an event. This allows you to give different discounts to different customers without having to issue coupons. Known customer discounts override order discounts.

You configure your customer discounts in Manage event > Known customers. Then search for your customer and then click the small Edit button. In the following window, uncheck the Use event's discount settings. Then enter their discount in the Discount section.

Product category bulk discounts

You may discount products found in an entire product category, i.e. All photo prints are 10% off.
If a customer (parent) has multiple subjects (children) then you may decide if the discount applies to all subjects or to each subject
You may apply either a finite amount or a percentage discount
You may also decide at what levels the discount starts, ie. Buy 5 or more photo prints and save 10% on all of them
You may also have step discounts, for example:
1st photo print is regular price
Buy 2, 3, 4 or 5 photo prints and save 10% off of each one
Buy 6 or more and save 20%

Product category discounts are managed in your pricelist builder. Click the Category bulk discount button in the header of the category you would like to apply the discount to.

Stepped discounts depend, not only the number of items in the user's cart that match the discount, but also depend on the order in which they were added to the cart. Using the example above, if an 8x10 is added to the cart first it will get its regular price, but if it was the 6th item added, it will get 20% off. For this reason, we don't recommend using stepped discounts at the category level. This only really works well if you are discounting a category that contains products or packages of the same value, i.e. an 8x10 sheet cut into different per pose packages that you sell for the same price regardless of the package.

Product bulk discounts

Product bulk discounts work just like product category bulk discounts but only apply to specific product, for example, All 8x10's are $5 off. Or in the case of a stepped discount:
1st 8x10 is regular price
Buy 2 or 3 8x10's and save $2 off of each one
Buy 4 or more and save $4 off of each one

Product discounts are managed in your pricelist builder. Open the product you want to apply the discount to and then click the Bulk discount button.

In order to calculate stepped discounts we need the total number of items in the user's cart that match this product or match this product category. Even though a product may have its own discount, if it belongs to a category that also has a discount, we will still use it to get the total count of products in the category. Assuming the following, you set a 10% discount on 2 or more photo prints. You also set $2 off, 3 or more 8x10s. If the buyer adds 2, 8x10's and 1, 4x5, the 8x10's will still be the regular price but the 4x5 will be 10% off because there are 3 photo prints in the cart. If you find this confusing (don't worry so did we ), then we recommend that you choose either to apply discounts at the category level or the product, but not both.

For 'dance' type events, if you are using the 'Subject-specific bulk discounts' and you are also charging customers for each dancer per dance, the bulk discount will apply to each dancer across all the products they buy for each dance. For example, you have set a subject-specific bulk discount on downloads where the 1st download is the regular price and the second is 10% off. If a dancer is in two dances, and the customer purchases a download from each of the dancer's galleries, the discount will apply.

ALL DISCOUNTS AND COUPONS DO NOT APPLY TO SHIPPING AND TAXES
